The Cybersecurity Career Kickstart+ (CCK+) is CFCI’s flagship programme for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents who want to move into cybersecurity without an IT background. It is part-time, fully online, and funded through SkillsFuture — designed to fit around work commitments while delivering the practical, hands-on skills employers actually hire for.
This post explains what CCK+ covers, how it is structured, what funding is available, and what you can expect after completing it.
What Is CCK+ and Who Is It For?
CCK+ is a 7.5-month career conversion programme (333 instructional hours) aimed at mid-career switchers — typically Singaporeans or PRs aged 25 to 55 who are employed in another field and ready to make a deliberate transition into cybersecurity.
The programme is not a short-course overview. It is a structured, cumulative curriculum that takes you from command-line fundamentals through to penetration testing, SOC operations, and Windows forensics. Entry does not require a prior IT degree or industry experience.
Among CFCI graduates who secured cyber roles, 75% had no prior IT background. The programme is deliberately built for that profile.
How the Programme Is Structured
CCK+ runs entirely via live virtual classes supported by e-learning modules and assessments. Classes meet three times per week — two weekday evenings (7–11 pm) and one weekend session (1–5 pm) — so you can continue working while you study.
The seven-module curriculum covers:
- Introduction to Cybersecurity — command line, networking concepts, cryptography basics, OSI and TCP/IP models
- Linux Fundamentals — file permissions, processes, Bash scripting, system administration
- Network Research — scanning, enumeration, exploitation techniques, web application attacks
- Python Fundamentals — variables, loops, file handling, scripting for security automation
- Penetration Testing — exploit frameworks including Metasploit and Burp Suite
- SOC Essentials — subnetting, firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms, MITRE ATT&CK framework, incident response workflows
- Windows Forensics — registry analysis, memory forensics, malware investigation
Throughout the programme, you have 24/7 access to a cyber practice lab, complete 28 real-world simulations, and build four individual portfolio projects. The portfolio matters: practical, demonstrable work is what secures offers at the interview stage, not certification alone.
Certifications Included
Graduates of CCK+ receive:
- Multiple Ngee Ann Polytechnic modular certificates — NP is the academic and administrative partner for this programme
- A CFCI programme certificate
- A free GIAC GCIH exam voucher (valued at S$1,350)
The GCIH — GIAC Certified Incident Handler — validates your ability to detect, respond to, and resolve security incidents. It is a globally recognised credential that maps directly to entry-level SOC analyst responsibilities, which is the most common first role among CFCI graduates who secure employment in the field.
A note on credentials: qualifications help clear HR screening, but what wins offers is the ability to demonstrate practical capability. That is why the programme emphasises hands-on labs and a real portfolio alongside the GCIH pathway.
Funding and Fees
CCK+ is approved under SkillsFuture, which significantly reduces the out-of-pocket cost for eligible Singaporeans and PRs.
Full programme fee before subsidies and GST: S$19,500
Net fees after SkillsFuture subsidy:
- Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above: from S$2,476.50
- Singapore Citizens below 40 and Permanent Residents: from S$6,376.50
Additional funding options include SkillsFuture Credit (which can be applied on top of the subsidy), NTUC UTAP for union members, and PSEA for eligible applicants. Fees are collected in tranches rather than as a lump sum.
Cybersecurity is also listed within the eligible Infocomm Technology occupations on MOM’s COMPASS Shortage Occupation List, which means successfully hired graduates may be eligible for the skills bonus scheme.
Career Services and Employment Support
Completing the curriculum is one part of the outcome. CFCI’s career services are the other.
Every CCK+ student has access to:
- A dedicated in-house cybersecurity career coach
- Three structured workshops covering CV and portfolio presentation, interview preparation, and LinkedIn and outreach strategy
- One-to-one consultation sessions for personalised guidance
- Role mapping to translate your prior work experience into cybersecurity-relevant transferable skills
- Ad-hoc employer referrals through CFCI’s network of 40-plus hiring organisations
The goal of career services is to make sure graduates can articulate their skills clearly and target the right roles. CFCI does not secure jobs for graduates — but it gives you the tools, preparation, and connections to compete effectively.
80% of graduates who completed the full programme and career services secured cybersecurity employment, as of early 2026.
Why Now in Singapore
The threat landscape driving cybersecurity hiring is not abstract. The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) reports that ransomware incidents occur locally roughly once every three days. Singapore’s Annual Scams and Cybercrime Brief recorded over 55,800 scam and cybercrime cases in 2024 alone. Regulatory requirements — particularly in financial services under MAS guidelines — mean organisations are legally obligated to maintain robust security postures, not just commercially motivated to do so.
That demand is structural, not cyclical. It creates a sustained need for trained professionals at the SOC analyst level and above — precisely the roles CCK+ prepares you for.
How to Apply
Enrolment into CCK+ is not open-access. The admissions process begins with a free, seven-hour Cybersecurity Experiential Workshop (CEW). The CEW is hands-on: you work through a real scenario assessment, which gives both you and CFCI a clear picture of whether you are ready for the full programme.
Candidates who demonstrate the right aptitude at the CEW receive an enrolment offer. If you receive an offer, you then secure your seat and arrange the tranche payment schedule.
This process exists to protect your investment. A seven-month commitment deserves honest assessment on both sides.
If you are still weighing whether a career switch into cybersecurity makes sense for your situation, our complete guide to switching into cybersecurity in Singapore covers the full roadmap — from assessing fit through to what a first role looks like.
