Free Cybersecurity Info Session
A free, 45-minute online session for anyone considering a move into cybersecurity. Walk through the career landscape, the CCK+ curriculum, available funding, and ask anything — live. No IT background required.
What to expect
In 45 minutes, online, you will get an honest picture of what a career in cybersecurity actually looks like in Singapore — the roles, the skills required, and whether the CCK+ programme is the right fit for you. We also cover the funding landscape in full, so you leave knowing exactly what the path will cost and what support is available. Then we answer your questions live.
Sessions run two to three times per week. Pick a slot, turn up, and decide.
Who should attend
Anyone weighing up a move into cybersecurity, especially career switchers with no IT background. We hold nothing back — if the programme is not right for you, we will tell you.
Agenda
The session is structured around four questions most prospective students arrive with.
Is Cybersecurity For Me?
We open with an overview of the industry: how it is structured in Singapore, what a typical SOC Analyst, penetration tester, or digital forensics analyst actually does day to day, and what kinds of people make the transition successfully. We look at career progression pathways and realistic expectations for a first role.
- Industry overview and the Singapore cyber talent landscape
- Key job roles: SOC Analyst, incident responder, threat hunter, penetration tester
- Career progression and salary bands at different experience levels
- What backgrounds do well — and why prior IT experience is not required
What Is Needed To Enter Cyber?
We demystify the certifications, tools, and skills employers are looking for, and explain how the CCK+ curriculum maps to those requirements. We also share what effective learning looks like for cybersecurity — hands-on labs, not lecture slides.
- In-demand skills and the tools that underpin them (Wireshark, Splunk, Kali Linux, and others)
- The role of industry certifications — what helps, what is optional, what to avoid
- How to build a portfolio and prepare for technical interviews
- The learning approach: lab-first, scenario-based, online and part-time
Is The Programme Suitable For Me?
We walk through the CCK+ curriculum module by module, the part-time schedule, and what the experience of studying looks like around a full-time job. We also cover the free Cybersecurity Experiential Workshop (CEW) available before you commit.
- Full curriculum overview: five modules across 333 hours, delivered online
- Part-time schedule: roughly two to three sessions per week, over about eight months
- Certifications included: Ngee Ann Polytechnic certificates, CFCI certificate, and a GCIH examination voucher
- The Cybersecurity Experiential Workshop — a free taster before you decide
- Q&A on admissions, support, and what to expect from the learning experience
What Subsidies Are Available?
We explain the complete funding picture so there are no surprises. Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents can access significant SkillsFuture funding, and additional schemes can bring the cost down further.
- Up to 90% SkillsFuture funding for Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above
- Up to 70% SkillsFuture funding for Singapore Citizens aged 21–39 and Permanent Residents
- SkillsFuture Credit (up to S$500) can offset the nett fee
- UTAP (S$200–S$500 per year for NTUC union members) may apply
- PSEA (Post-Secondary Education Account) is accepted for eligible applicants
- Full fee and funding details are available on the Cybersecurity Career Kickstart+ course page
How you will learn
The info session itself is fully online, interactive, and capped at a 1:30 trainer-to-participant ratio so every question gets a real answer. It is not a webinar — it is a structured Q&A with the trainers who deliver the programme.
There is no presentation to download and no homework. Just show up.
Entry requirements
None. Any adult considering a career in cybersecurity is welcome to attend, regardless of educational background or work experience.
After the info session
If you want to experience the programme before committing, you can attend the free Cybersecurity Experiential Workshop (CEW) — a hands-on half-day taster of the CCK+ curriculum. Ask about it at the info session or visit the CEW course page.
When you are ready to enrol, the Cybersecurity Career Kickstart+ page has the full curriculum, schedule, and fee table.
